Yuma Police Investigate String Of Possibly Related Robberies

Ski-Mask-robberThe Yuma Police Department is investigating the armed robbery or attempted armed robbery of three separate businesses, which occurred on Tuesday night.

The first attempted robbery occurred at Tacos Mi Rancho at 188 South Fourth Avenue.  The subject was frightened off by an employee of the business as he attempted to enter a side door, and was last seen running on foot westbound on Second Street from the business.  He did not enter the business, and no money was taken.

The suspect was described as an unknown race male wearing a black ski mask, a green sweatshirt, and grey pants.  He was described as being approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall and approximately 180 pounds.

The second incident occurred about 20 minutes later when a subject entered the CMS Market at 2090 West Eighth Street.

The subject demanded money and a bottle of alcohol from the clerks.  After being given money, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian male in his 20’s, wearing a black ski mask, a black long-sleeved sweatshirt, and blue jeans.  He was described as being approximately

5’8” to 5’10” tall and approximately 180 pounds, and was carrying a blue backpack.

Witnesses also state that the suspect was in the company of a second subject who remained outside of the store during the robbery.  That subject was described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s wearing a blue sports jersey with white stripes, and blue shorts.

He was described as being approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, approximately 180 pounds, with a moustache, and black shoulder-length hair.  The subjects were last seen running westbound on Eighth Street away from the business.

A half hour later, a subject armed with a shotgun entered R.C. Liquor at 101 E. 24th Street. He demanded money and a bottle of alcohol from the clerks.

After being given the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot.  The suspect was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, wearing a black ski mask, and a black long-sleeved sweatshirt.  He was described as being approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build, light complexion, and longer dark hair.

There were no other subjects seen during this event.  The suspect was last seen exiting onto 24th Street where he fled in an unknown direction.

It is believed at this time that all three of these incidents are related.  It is unknown at this time the total amount of money that was taken between the latter two incidents.  No one was hurt during any of the robberies.
