The Yuma Police Department says one person is in custody following a police standoff Wednesday. Police say they responded to a report of shots being fired at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of South Third Avenue.
34-year-old Jorge V. Clark reportedly fired a weapon into the air early Wednesday and again later that morning. Clark refused to leave his apartment, but about 20 minutes after negotiations started, Clark agreed to give himself up to authorities.
As a precautionary measure the Special Enforcement Unit and the Crisis Negotiations Team were called to the scene. The surrounding apartments were also evacuated.
After a search warrant was obtained, the Special Enforcement unit gained entry into the apartment but did not locate any additional subjects. Clark was booked into the Yuma County Detention Facility on charges of Endangerment, Misconduct with a weapon and two counts of Disorderly Conduct. No one was injured and no damages were reported.
