The Yuma Police Department says they are looking into an incident in which a weapon was fired. Police say they responded to a report of shots being fired on Thursday morning in the 22-hundred block of South Avenue “A”.
When police arrived, police say there was a disturbance going on between four male subjects in the roadway. When they saw police, they all fled on foot.
One of the officers was able to follow 30-year-old Marco Velasco. Velasco pointed a weapon at the officer. The officer kept up with the suspect, running through a nearby bar. A bouncer in the bar got a hold of Velasco and disarmed him, however the suspect was able to get away and continued to flee on foot.
Velasco was eventually caught and was taken to the Yuma County Detention Center.
He is charged with disorderly conduct involving a weapon, endangerment and two counts of aggravated assault. No one was injured.
