Yuma Intl Airport To Unveil Changes To Passenger Screening Area

Yuma-International-AirportPassengers flying to and from Yuma International Airport will notice a few new passenger-friendly changes to the airport’s passenger screening area.

Yuma International Airport was awarded an $180,000 grant from the Aeronautics Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation in July 2012 to accommodate new equipment for TSA.  The project included moving the entrance of the secured area to the east end of the terminal and expanding it to provide additional space for TSA to install the new screening equipment.

An important part of the project included the addition of restrooms to the secure passenger seating area of the Terminal Building.

Also, a new advanced x-ray will be used to screen carry-on baggage, replacing equipment that had been in use at Yuma for more than ten years.

The grand opening will be held on Thursday morning at 11am.
