The Yuma City Council – despite several people voicing opposition – approved the preliminary plans for a new subdivision at 44th Street and Avenue 6E. The Yuma Sun is reporting that the council on Wednesday approved to change the land designation from rural density to low density residential. The next steps the council will have to take is to annex the 90 acres so the subdivision can be annexed into the city. Plans also include the construction of a school on ten acres of the property. 224 single family homes are expected to be constructed.
