The Yuma City Council approved a new contract with the Humane Society of Yuma. The council on Wednesday approved the contract that is expected to save the city of Yuma money while freeing up staff from both the city and the Humane Society to care for animals. The Yuma Sun is reporting changes to expedite the time it takes to turn in feral cats. Residents will no longer have to pick up a voucher before turning in the animal to the shelter. The contract is for two years with an option to renew for three more one-year periods.
