Two Men Taken Into Custody After Police Standoff

Standoff-YumaTwo persons are in custody after they held police at bay during a standoff Wednesday afternoon in the 2000 block of South Eleventh Street. 

The Yuma Police Department says they were trying to talk to 37-year-old Jacson Williams following a domestic violence related incident.  Williams refused to come out of his apartment.  Police tried to negotiate with him by loudspeakers.  After about two hours, police brought in the Special Enforcement Unit to help with the situation. 

Williams continued to remain inside the residence.  After the three-and-a-half-hour standoff, Williams and another male came out of the apartment and surrendered to police. 

Williams was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for an unknown medical issue. 

The other unidentified male subject was transported to the Yuma Police Department for further questioning.
