Prosecutors did not ask to make a statement, but they continued with formal charges against John Rood III excluding one very serious count. The judge read his official charges for this incident. They include kidnapping, sexual assault, and criminal trespassing. Sunday evening Yuma police officers arrested Rood after they say he tried to break into a home on the 100 block of 24th Place in Yuma. YCSO had already started a search for him earlier that day. In court, the state dropped one of the original charges: attempted second degree murder. For that, the defense requested the court lower rood's bond to $25,000. Instead the judge lowered Rood's bond to $350,000. Rood will be back in court next week.
