Pregnant Widow Asks For Special Session On Benefits

The pregnant widow of one of the firefighters killed in June is asking Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to call a special legislative session to address benefits for the men's families.

Roxanne Warneke said Thursday, August 15th that she wants legislators to vote sooner than later on a proposal by House Speaker Andy Tobin to retroactively provide benefits to the families of the 13 seasonal Granite Mountain Hotshots. Unlike the six full-time crew members, the families of the seasonal workers do not get benefits like health insurance. A spokesman for Brewer did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
