One Person Dead After Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision

Police say one person is dead following a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. The Yuma Police Department says 96-year-old Lucienne Sears died from injuries she sustained in the accident occurring on Monday afternoon. An investigation revealed a 16-year-old female driver was traveling eastbound on 22nd Street, attempting to make a left turn onto 25th Drive. As she made the turn, she lost control of her motor scooter, hitting the curb and colliding with Sears on the sidewalk. Sears was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Police are continuing to investigate.
