One Person Charged In Connection With Vehicle And ATV Theft

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says one person is charged in connection with the theft of an ATV and another vehicle, causing headaches for drivers following an accident Friday. Police say 26-year-old Iovany Alerge of Somerton allegedly stole the ATV near the area of West County 16th Street and South Avenue “B”. After being pursued, he fled from the quad into an orange grove. During a brief foot pursuit, the suspect stole a Toyota Tundra that was parked at a residence with the keys in the ignition. A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the suspect had been involved in a vehicle collision inside the City of Yuma. The suspect was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment. Alerge is charged with robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and theft of means of transportation.
