Mayor Krieger Not Prosecuted

The Office of the Arizona Attorney General says they will not prosecute Yuma Mayor Alan Krieger on allegations of misconduct of his office and conflict of interest. The Yuma Sun is reporting that a thorough investigation was completed following a complaint filed by the Yuma City Council.
Yuma City Administrator Greg Wilkinson recently received a letter from the state Attorney General, stating that criminal prosecution would be denied in the case since there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction. The case goes back to 2012 when council members hired a special independent legal counsel to investigate allegations of misconduct by Krieger which was voiced by a former Yuma mayor at a meeting held in January, 2012. The independent counsel felt there was enough evidence that the Mayor violated the state’s Open Meeting Law and conflict of interest statues. The report was then forwarded to the Arizona Attorney General.
