A man is in critical condition following a near drowning. The Yuma Fire Department on Wednesday was called to Gateway Park in the area of the Ocean-to-Ocean bridge in response to two persons, an adult male and a child, who were possible drowning victims.
Yuma Fire Department paramedics arrived to find CPR being performed on a 35-year-old male by a bystander believed to be an off-duty nurse. Paramedics began treating the victim and a pulse was regained prior to transport to Yuma Regional Medical Center.
The report of the second victim was due to a child reportedly being in the victim’s arms when he went under water. The child was taken from the water by another adult and was not harmed.
The adult male victim continues to be treated at YRMC.
