The Yuma Police Department says they have arrested one person in connection with an incident in which a knife was involved. Police say 28 year old Frank Amavisca Junior was involved in a disturbance Friday with a roommate when he grabbed a kitchen knife and then left the residence on East Tenth Street. Once on scene, police made verbal contact with Amavisca but he refused to exit the residence. He was also wanted by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a residential burglary and stolen vehicle case. The Yuma Police Department Special Enforcement Team responded and ultimately served a search warrant on the residence. Amavisca ignored multiple requests to exit the residence. He finally did after a seven-hour standoff after chemical agents were deployed. Amavisca was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked on charges of disorderly conduct involving a deadly weapon and criminal damage.
