Governor Brewer Calls For State To Set Aside $9.2 Million For Veterans Home In Yuma

In her Executive Budget released on Friday, Arizona Governor Janice Brewer is calling for the state to set aside more than $9.2 million to build a veterans home in Yuma. The budget still has to pass the legislature, but Dave Hampton with the Arizona Department of Veterans Services is excited to see what this plan can do to help Yuma County's 20,000 military veterans.
Hampton says the plans for the building are still in their very earliest stages until the money is officially granted. The plan calls for the state to pay for 35% of construction, with the Federal VA picking up the rest of the bill.
