First Lady Asked To Support The Nation’s Outdoor Recreation Spaces

Great-Outdoors-America-WeekThis is Great America Outdoors week, and as part of an effort to get kids moving in Arizona and elsewhere, First Lady Michelle Obama is being asked to support funding for more bike paths, soccer fields and other places for recreation.

Rich Hamburg with the Trust for America’s Health says his group is one of 17 national organizations to sign onto the letter asking for the first lady's support.

Hamburg says many Americans may be surprised to learn that the Land and Water Conservation Fund is a major source of funding for parks and outdoor recreation spaces.

The letter asks the first lady to make this spending a priority as part of her Let’s Move campaign that is focused on ending childhood obesity.
