Farmers Worried About Possible Water Rights Diversion

Water-Pipe-canalYuma farmers are upset over a proposed water bill, which could possibly divert water rights from the area.

KYMA-TV is reporting that a lawyer has been retained by irrigation districts.  Wade Noble is representing the districts, who are trying to protect a $3-billion industry.  Other counties across Arizona are trying to divert the use of some of this water to fuel residential and business development.

At a meeting Thursday morning at the Yuma City Hall, John Boelts, who is on the board of directors for the Arizona Farm Bureau, reminded those in attendance the importance of keeping water for the area farmers.
