Deported Sex Offender Apprehended By Border Patrol

US-Border-PatrolUnited States Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro station apprehended a convicted sex offender early Monday morning in an isolated area in Calexico. 

The incident occurred approximately 13 miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry when agents encountered a 30-year-old male citizen of Mexico attempting an illegal entry into the United States.  

The man was identified as Elmer De Leon-Escobar, a convicted sex offender, guilty of Sexual Assault in the state of Texas where he served two years.  Escobar was deported in July, 2012.  He is being held by the Border Patrol and will be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation.
