The first containers will be delivered to homes along Lorenzo Lane in the Tamarack subdivision. It will take about 14 weeks to roll out all of the containers.
Once residents get their containers, pickup service will start the following week. Anything from aluminum and steel cans to cardboard, paper, plastics and glass will be accepted.
The program is voluntary, but residents are encouraged to participate. The program will save the city money by depositing less into the landfill. Any money saved in the city's solid waste fund serves as a buffer against raising solid waste fees.
