DEA To Hold National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

prescription-drugs-pillsThe Drug Enforcement Administration along with state and local law enforcement and community partners announced a sixth nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative that seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft.

The Yuma Police Department has agreed to take part in this initiative and will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Last September, Americans turned in 244 tons of prescription drugs at over 5,200 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state and local law enforcement partners.  In its five previous Take Back events, the DEA and its partners took in over two-million pounds of pills.
