City Council Honors Prominent Citizen

The Yuma City Council voted on Wednesday to honor a prominent citizen who lived in Yuma at the turn of the 20th Century. The Yuma Sun is reporting that a driveway off First Street that leads to Gateway Park will be renamed George Downey Drive. The home where Downey was born was located in the area of the driveway. During his life, he served as a Yuma City Council member, served on the Yuma County Board of Supervisors and served as interim
Yuma Mayor.
