Man Appears In Court On Attempted Murder Charges


A man arrested on attempted murder charges over the weekend appeared in court. 23-year-old Michael Anthony Soto is charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault in connection with an incident Sunday in which he hit 21-year-old Jorge Damian with his car. Sheriff’s Detention Officer Fired After Causing Flood In Phoenix Jail


A Maricopa County Sheriff's detention officer has been fired after hanging from a pipe at the downtown Phoenix jail in December 2013, causing it to break and flood the complex. Two People In Custody Following Early Morning Shooting On Sunday


Police say two people are in custody following an early morning shooting Sunday in the 1700 block of Dora Avenue. The Yuma Police Department says 23-year-old Michael Anthony Soto and 38-year-old Carla Diane Hirales are charged in connection with the incident. Wellton Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender Near Dateland


United States Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station arrested 27-year-old Jose Panchillo Castro, a convicted sex offender Saturday near Dateland. Following the man’s arrest, agents learned of the conviction during a records check. He had been previously arrested by the Columbus Junction Police Department for solicitation of lascivious acts with a child and was deported from the United States. ... Read More »

Yuma Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire Quickly


The Yuma Fire Department responded to reports of a townhome on fire in the 1300 block of Sunset Drive. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a residence at 1310 South Sunset Drive. The Yuma Fire Department received reports of a trailer fire Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of South 12th Avenue.
