Matadors Top Mesa College To Advance In Playoffs

Two persons are in custody after they held police at bay during a standoff Wednesday afternoon in the 2000 block of South Eleventh Street.  The Yuma Police Department says they were trying to talk to 37-year-old Jacson Williams following a domestic violence related incident.  Williams refused to come out of his apartment.  Police tried to negotiate with him by loudspeakers.  ... Arizona Stands To Lose Millions In Education Funding If Sequester Cuts Take Place Tomorrow

Man Arrested After Fleeing From Police During Traffic Stop

Fugitive Wanted For 2004 Murder Arrested At Border


A man who has been profiled on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” was arrested by Border Patrol officials in San Luis.  Raul Marin Sandoval has been on the run from authorities since the 2004 murder of 18-year-old Brenden Tsukimura at a Taco Bell in Monterey, California.  Police say Sandoval and two other men robbed the restaurant, then Sandoval murdered ... Lady Matadors’ Season Comes To An End After Loss To Cochise


The Arizona Western College Lady Matadors basketball season ended suddenly with a loss to Cochise Wednesday night.  The game was close at the half, but Cochise pulled away in the second stanza for a 58-to-49 win over AWC.  Cochise pulled away with a 17-to-six run in the second half.  Samantha Wallace scored 16 on the night. Fourth Suspect Arrested In Yuma Armed Robbery


A fourth person has been arrested by area police in connection with recent armed robberies in Yuma.  The Yuma Police Department says 18-year-old Angel Varela was arrested on Monday in connection with an armed robbery on West Camino Kino last month.  Varela fled on foot on Monday and threw a stolen handgun, which was recovered.  He was taken into custody ... Police Release More Information On Fetus Found At Somerton Recycling Plant

Two Men Arrested After Trying To Smuggle Marijuana Over The Border


Two men were arrested by Border Patrol agents at the Calexico station on Friday night.  Officials say the two unidentified Mexican Nationals climbed over the border fence near the Imperial Sand Dunes, then tried to hide near Interstate-Eight.  When they were found, officials say the pair were in the alleged possession of two packages of marijuana, valued at over $73,000.  ...
