Calexico Border Patrol Agents Apprehend Dangerous Gang Member

On Tuesday, United States Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a dangerous Mara Salvatrucha gang member attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States. Border Patrol agents observed the man, later identified as Jose Perez-Santos, a 31-year-old Salvadoran national, as he entered the United States illegally from Mexico. Agents arrested Perez without incident approximately three miles west of the downtown Calexico Port of Entry. Perez was transported to the Calexico Border Patrol station, where it was revealed he was an active member of the “MS-13” criminal gang out of El Salvador, and attempting to travel to Sacramento. Perez has a prior deportation ordered by an Immigration Judge and was removed from the United States on May 26th 2010. Perez is in Border Patrol custody pending prosecution charges for re-entry after being previously removed from the United States
