Bus Sponsorship Gives Students Opportunity To Explore Traveling Alcatraz Exhibit

AlcatrazYuma-area students have a chance to break out of school and into prison this spring, thanks to special funding from Union Pacific Foundation.

Their destination is actually "Life on the Rock," a world-class traveling exhibit about the infamous federal prison on Alcatraz Island that has been at the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park since January.

Already a sponsor of the exhibit, now Union Pacific Foundation is offering twenty "bus sponsorships" of $100 each to help transport students in fourth grade or higher to see the special exhibit.

Sponsorships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and an entrance fee of $1 per student and $2 for accompanying adults still applies.   Teachers need to make arrangements to visit before April 15th by calling Ranger Tammy Snook at 928-317-0332.
