Blythe And Wellton Border Patrol Agents Arrest Drug Smugglers

United States Border Patrol agents from the Blythe Station arrested one smuggler and seized over $329,000 worth of cocaine, while agents from the Wellton Station seized over $95,000 worth of marijuana. Monday, agents stopped a Chevy Impala at I-10 and Lovekin Boulevard. A canine unit alerted to the trunk of the car, leading to the discovery of nearly 14 kilograms of cocaine. The driver, a U.S. citizen was arrested. The subject and cocaine were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
In a separate incident, agents tracking footprints of a group of people suspected of entering the country illegally discovered four camouflage wrapped backpacks containing 191 pounds of marijuana near the Sierra Pinta Mountains in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. After securing the marijuana, agents continued following the footprints until determining the smugglers returned to Mexico.
