United States Representative Ron Barber and former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords are scheduled to be among the speakers at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., to honor Gabriel "Gabe" Zimmerman.
The 30-year-old Zimmerman was Giffords' outreach director until he was killed in the January 2011 shooting rampage in Tucson.
Six people died and 13 others were wounded, including Giffords and Barber. Barber replaced Giffords in Congress after she resigned her seat due to her injuries. Barber won another two-year term in November.
A room in the U.S. Capitol will be dedicated today to Zimmerman and a bronze plaque honoring him will be unveiled.
