A mother and daughter were arrested at the Calexico downtown port of entry after U.S Customs and Border Protection officers seized $450,000 worth of methamphetamine from their car. It happened Wednesday morning when the two Mexican nationals were passing through the checkpoint and a canine team alerted officers. The 2007 Dodge Caliber they were driving was escorted to a secondary lot for further inspection.
Officers discovered 20 wrapped packages of methamphetamine hidden in the rear seats and quarter panels of the car. In total, the drugs weighed in at 30-pounds. The mother-daughter duo was turned over to homeland security for further processing.
